Locked Out Of iPhone X – Fixed

Locked Out Of iPhone X – Fixed

People can get locked out of their iPhone X devices. If you’ve come to live this fact, we would like to make one thing clear, before we ease your mind and share a couple alternatives: the hard factory reset (that everybody is scared of) is a part of the equation BUT it doesn’t have to be the only one.

What we are implying is that there are ways to go around the factory reset and still bypass the forgotten pass code. Sooner or later, you should be able to access the iPhone. It could be with the help of the iTunes app, with the iCloud service, or even with the recovery mode alternative. Of course, each of these solutions comes with specific limitations, meaning that not each of them may be a viable option for you. If that’s the case, you still have the hard reset, but let’s don’t get there, yet.

Solution #1 – Have you ever used the iTunes with your iPhone X ?

  1. If you did, you should be able to access a backup from there, so, connect the iPhone to a computer
  2. On the PC, launch the iTunes app and follow whatever prompts are being displayed in there
  3. Next, the iTunes will sync the iPhone and you should wait for it to finish
  4. Wait a bit longer for the backup process that will follow the sync
  5. When you get this option, select Restore [Device]
  6. You will be redirected, soon after that, to the Set Up Screen
  7. On that screen, select Restore from iTunes Backup
  8. Select your device, to let the iTunes app know what to restore
  9. Select the archived backup that you want to restore
  10. Wait for the iTunes to restore the device.

Solution #2 – Have you ever used the iCloud with your iPhone X ?

  1. As long as you know for a fact that the locked iPhone has an active internet connection (Wi-Fi/Cellular), you must use another device to log into your iCloud account
  2. On that device, navigate to iCloud.com/find and use your Apple ID for authentication
  3. Select All Devices;
  4. Select your iPhone X
  5. Select Erase [Device]
  6. Select one of your main options: Set up as new or Restore from a backup
  7. Confirm the action and wait for the process to end.

Solution #3 – Have you ever booted into Recovery Mode with iTunes?

This solution is different from the first one because it will allow you to only restore the iOS. That way, you will unlock the iPhone, bypassing the forgotten pass code, but get to keep your saved data in place. It works even if you haven’t backed up the device via iTunes before, so, let’s show you how to do it:

  1. Connect the iPhone to a computer
  2. Start the iTunes app
  3. Begin to force restart the iPhone after setting up this connection
  4. You tap and hold, on both the Sleep/Wake and the Home buttons, for 10 seconds minimum
  5. Continue even when you see the Apple logo on the screen
  6. Release the buttons when the Recovery Mode begins to load
  7. You will see two options in there – Restore and Update – and you will select the Update
  8. Then, all you have to do is to wait for the iTunes to reinstall the iOS in Recovery Mode.
