Overheating is a serious warning factor. If you’re getting it on your brand-new iPhone X or iPhone 10, you cannot afford to ignore it. The problem may or may not go away on its own, yet the damage it can cause until it does so is a crucial aspect. So, just a quick check before we delve in: have you let the iPhone stay close to a heat source or in the sunlight? Have you used it intensively in the hours or minutes before it started to overheat?
If you did, the simple gesture of stopping the cause of the heat should make things get back to normal. If you didn’t do any of that, you still need to make it stop ASAP. But you’ve guessed, this time is even more challenging because you probably don’t know where to start from.
Lucky for you, now you have this tutorial of ours on how to fix the Apple iPhone X and iPhone 10 devices that are getting hot and overheating.
Here are the top 3 things to try when the iPhone X overheats:
- Boot into Safe Mode to let the iPhone cool down and investigate;
- Go straight through the factory reset process and delete all problems and… data;
- Clear the cache of the apps that might be causing the overheating.
To boot into Safe Mode, you must:
- Tap and hold the Home and the Power keys;
- Wait to see the black screen;
- Release the Home button;
- Hold the Power button;
- Wait to see the Apple logo;
- Release the Power button;
- Tap and hold the Volume Up;
- Wait to see the springboard loading.
Long story short, you uninstall everything with the factory reset, set up the iPhone once again, and restore your most important data. If you still have this problem after that, you can clear the cache of the iPhone and this will temporarily fix the malfunctioning apps. To try this, you’ll have to open the General settings, go to Storage & iCloud Usage, and open the Manage Storage section. Once in there, select the Documents and Data and you’ll gain access to all the items whose cache you can clear. Swipe left on any of them and use the Delete or just use the Delete All option from the Edit menu.
Do all that and pay close attention to whether your iPhone X or iPhone 10 is still overheating or not. Take it into service if necessary!
