Android developer options are a set of more advanced features designed for programmers developing apps for use in the Android OS. These power users are a small subset of the Android user base, so with the OnePlus 5, Android has disabled these options by default. There are plenty of reasons to turn them back on, and if you need to do so it isn’t difficult. Read on for exact instructions for enabling developer mode on OnePlus 5.
Enabling Developer Mode – OnePlus 5
- Under Settings navigate to “About device”
- Find the option called “Build number” near the bottom of the menu
- Tap this item seven times in a row. After the fourth tap you’ll see a dialogue that says you’re about to be a developer. Keep tapping. On the seventh tap this dialogue changes to say “You’re now a developer!”
That really is all there is to it. The developer options aren’t necessarily dangerous for your phone, but newer versions of Android hide them away like this so the average user doesn’t stumble across them inadvertently. Enjoy your expanded usability!
