How to Use Safe Mode on Essential PH 1

While the Essential PH 1 is a great all-around phone, no technology is completely without problems. Oftentimes these problems can be caused by software conflicts within third-party apps. If you suspect that your Essential PH 1 might be crashing or experiencing problems because of an app you’ve installed, you can try to fix these issues in Safe Mode. Safe Mode is a unique way of booting an Android device that runs only the software essential to OS operations. Using this, you can uninstall pesky apps without crashing or other issues. Read below for instructions on how to use Safe Mode.

Booting to Safe Mode


  1. With your device powered on, hold down the power button
  2. This will bring up the power down / reboot menu
  3. Tap and hold the Power Off button that appears in this menu
  4. A dialogue will appear asking if you want to boot to Safe Mode
  5. Tap Yes

This will reboot your Essential PH 1 into Safe Mode, allowing you to uninstall apps without interference.
